Helping business managers and bursars

At DAS, we understand the challenges modern education providers face. That’s why DAS Commercial Legal Expenses Insurance cover is included in your Zurich Municipal insurance policy.

Legal representation

We always recommend using a solicitor from one of our panel firms as they are selected for their expertise, service standards and are regularly audited. They are also familiar with our products and working with DAS.

Using a panel firm ensures that you will have a solicitor in place quickly, enabling you to gain the maximum benefit from your policy.

We always recommend using a panel firm for the entire duration of your case. You do, however, have the right to select your own representative once legal proceedings are issued, but your chosen firm must agree to set terms and costs.

DAS Law is one of our panel firms; they are experienced in working with schools, academies and universities.

How DAS Law has helped Zurich Municipal education clients

In 2018, DAS Law took on 88 employment related claims from education organisations holding Zurich Municipal insurance with embedded DAS Commercial legal expenses insurance cover. At the time of writing (January 2019), 47 claims have been settled* with 94% of those claims achieving a ‘good outcome’ (e.g. a win, a settlement or claim withdrawn by the other side).

* These statistics will be updated as soon as the remaining on-going claims are settled.

If something’s starting to go wrong…

Please call DAS with respect to a potential claim before incurring any costs with another solicitor. Any costs incurred before the acceptance of a claim are not covered.

If you are unsuccessful in defending an employment claim, we may also pay the compensation award. However you must use our recommended panel firm in order to receive this benefit.
